Watch the teaser trailer for the new season of the award-winning Scandi crime series
Following the breath-taking second season finale which put the burgeoning relationship between detectives Saga Norén (Sofia Helin) and Martin Rohde (Kim Bodnia) to the ultimate test, we return to the most treacherous bridge in Nordic Noir history.
Prepare to be entranced once again by the haunting melody of “Hollow Talks” by Choir of Young Believers and the eccentric charm of Saga Norén. With each episode of The Bridge, audiences have gradually warmed their hearts to Saga just as she has opened up to those around her. In the new season, Saga comes face-to-face with her past, whilst investigating the disappearance of a Danish citizen and “provocative” victim Helle Anker.
Once again Saga is teamed up with a Danish partner from the other side of the Øresund Bridge to foil a new villain’s elaborate plot. However, when the Police Commissioner and paternal confidante Hans Petterson (Dag Malmberg) is kidnapped Saga’s resilience to her emotions begins to waver.
Saga’s traumatic childhood was unveiled in Season 2, having been shrouded in mystery due to her idiosyncratic interpersonal skills. Now, with the arrival of her mother, fans of the show can expect to get to know Saga on another level.
As well as an appearance from Danish actor Thure Lindhardt (Flame and Citron, 2008), series writer Hans Rosenfeldt told Swedish broadcaster SVT how different the focus of the new season will be: “We provide other Danes around Saga, which works just fine, and actually allows us to explore other sides of her. It will become something completely different this time. This is very much Saga’s season, earlier the focus was much more on Martin and his private life.”
