Celebrate the best Danish film and TV of 2015!
The 32nd Robert Awards (also known as Robert Prisen) is annually presented by the Danish Film Academy to distinguish the top feats in cinema and television. Voted by industry members, the indigenous ceremony is on par with the AMPAS Academy Awards. Let us take a look at the categories for Best Film and TV series.
The nominees entered to win the grand prize of ‘Best Danish Film’ will be between: the political thriller about a nuclear cover-up in The Idealist, the controversial acts of Danish soldiers in Afghanistan in A War, the black comedy of horrifying heritage in Men & Chicken, the 1992 European World Championship victory in The Summer of ’92 and prisoner of Second World War drama Land of Mine. Last year’s award went to Lars von Trier’s Nymphomaniac: Vol. I & II.
While the contenders for ‘Best Danish TV series’ are: the second season of the scathing family portrait of The Legacy, Saga’s emotionally visceral return in The Bridge III, new supernatural vampire show Heartless, drug-smuggling drama Norskov and the third season of the off-beat school teacher Rita. The Legacy claimed not only ‘Best Danish TV series’ for its phenomenal first season, but also took home ‘Best Actor’ for Carsten Bjørnlund, ‘Best Actress’ for Trine Dyrholm, ‘Best Supporting Actor’ for Mikkel Boe Følsgaard and ‘Best Supporting Actress’ for Lene Maria Christensen.
Will the Oscar-nominated A War also be recognised with a Robert accolade? Can the Grønnegaard’s continue their supremacy with their second season? We will soon find out. Held og lykke and skål!
