The award-winning Danish drama has come to an end on Sky Arts but you can re-live the emotionally-charged series for your home entertainment.
Following the impact of Borgen (2010-2013), the arrival of The Legacy served up another slice of quality Danish drama: the cliff-hanging tenth episode left us in anticipation for more. However, Nordicana 2015 offered a glimpse at the first episode of season two, tantalising die-hard fans ahead of its Sky Arts release.
The second season of The Legacy continued its acclaim with more drama unfolding in the wake of Signe “Sunshine” (Marie Bach Hansen) usurping Gro (Trine Dyrholm) from the family estate and claiming her rightful inheritance. With another family member entering the mix; Thomas’ (Jesper Christensen) new born baby and the estranged Emil (Mikkel Boe Følsgaard) incarcerated in Thailand, the dilemmas reached new heights as the Grønnegaards were forced to adapt to their new lives.
Eager viewers of the brand new season shared their praise on Twitter following its grand finale:
Brilliant just brilliant. #nordicnoir
Just finished watching s2 of #thelegacy. Have loved it since the very beginning, can’t wait for the 3rd! Brilliant stuff!
Sadly, the second series of The Legacy (Arvingerne) has come to an end. Compelling, dramatic television. What a family!
At Nordicana 2015, festival-goers were also treated to candid conversations with stars Trine Dyrholm, Marie Bach Hansen and Jesper Christensen, who talked about filming the third season of The Legacy, which is set to air on DR in January 2017.
Why not own the whole saga with the complete Season 1 & 2 box set on DVD ?
