And now for something – well, slightly different. The Hundred-Year Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared is not only an incredible title, it’s a hilarious new Swedish film which is in cinemas now.
Based upon the international best-selling novel, The Hundred-Year-Old-Man… follows the adventures of Allan Karlsson, a retired explosives expert who is about to celebrate his 100th birthday. Despite his age, Allan is still a perfectly able human being and rather than sit inside and attempt to enjoy a dreary party at his retirement home, he does exactly as the title says, and climbs out of a window and leaves. What we don’t know about Allan is that his career has allowed him to live a remarkable life, sharing the company of Joseph Stalin, Harry S Truman and Mikhail Gorbachev in travels all over the globe. One thing Allan want’s to make sure though, is that those adventures are not his last.
Starring Scandinavian acting veterans such as Robert Gustafsson, Iwar Wiklander and David Wiberg, The Hundered-Year-Old Man …has already proved a hit on the continent and you can see it in UK cinemas from July 4.
