‘The Bridge IV’ begins filming

More news is revealed on the fourth and final season

Ever since the first body was discovered on the Øresund Bridge in 2011; straddling the border between the Swedish and Danish territories, the jurisdiction of The Bridge was predominantly won on the Swedish side by the no-nonsense detective Saga Norén. However, The Bridge IV will take the series finale into another direction before its breathtaking climax. Get ready to explore the streets of Copenhagen with Saga and Sabroe as the fourth season begins filming in Denmark in November.

Creator and writer Hans Rosenfeldt has confirmed the slight yet significant geographical shift we can expect in the fourth season: “We’re changing countries for the investigation itself. It has always been Sweden-based but it’s going to be Denmark-based.” Even more has been revealed by Rosenfeldt from his interview with the Swedish publisher Expressen. This time, fans will understand a little more about Saga’s fashion iconography, in particular, her car. “There’s going to be a case to solve and then both lead characters will have a personal journey and the less I say about that the better, I think. But one small detail is that we’re going to find out where Saga got her Porsche from.” Saga’s signature style we immediately accepted (along with the leather trousers) will be another fascinating insight into the Nordic Noir heroine before we say goodbye. Another mystery solved.

Head of Drama at DR, Piv Bernth, commented on the build-up to the end of the critically acclaimed show, following the announcement that the fourth season would, in fact, be the last: “I can’t divulge anything about the plot as the script is still in the development stage, but I can promise that there will be an exciting and rousing conclusion.” Hans Rosenfeldt also made it clear that the finale will offer a definitive end to Saga’s story. “We all went into the fourth season to finish it, not least Sofia who has an enormously tough schedule, away from her family for six months. So we said: if we’re doing another one it will be the last one.”

The Bridge IV returns with an eight-episode series, produced by Filmlance International and Nimbus Film for SVT and DR, written by Hans Rosenfeldt, Camilla Ahlgren and Rumle Hammerich.
