Since 2008 the Specsavers Crime Thriller Awards have celebrated the best thriller and crime dramas from worlds of film, television and literature. Highlighting the astounding works from Britain and around the globe, the awards in the past have credited major series such as The Wire, Sherlock, Boardwalk Empire and Homeland but they have also consistently recognised the Nordic Noir genre.
Previously Steig Larsson, Wallander, The Killing plus Killing actresses Sofie Gråbøl and Ann Eleonora Jørgensen have walked away with awards. In 2012 The Bridge season 1 walked away with the best international series and this year Saga and Martin are back for more. The Bridge II has once again been nominated in the international category but it faces stiff opposition from True Detective, Fargo, Orange is the New Black and Inspector Montalbano.
The awards will take place this Friday 24th October and will be transmitted on ITV 3 one week later. Stay tuned to Nordic Noir to see if The Bridge walked away with the goods.
