We all know that Scandi’s enjoy their baking but Sweden have officially dedicated an entire day to one particular sugary treat. Every October 4th Swedes celebrate Cinnamon Bun Day, where delicious spiced buns are sold in cafes, restaurants and shops across the country.
The Home Baking Council in Gothenburg, who wanted to create a day in order to celebrate their 40th anniversary, invented the holiday back in 1999. The day has since gone on to become a national institution, which is celebrated by Swedes worldwide.
Cinnamon Buns aren’t the only dessert to have their own holiday in Sweden. Fat Tuesday is traditionally associated with Semla cakes and March 25th is Waffle Day.
