HBO have announced that Sidse Babett Knudsen will be starring in their latest and upcoming series, Westworld.
The Danish actress is reported to have landed the lead role of Theresa Cullen to which she will star alongside Clifton Collins Jr. (Pacific Rim, 2013), Eion Bailey and Jimmi Simpson (Band of Brothers, 2001) and (House of Cards, 2013-).
Westworld will be based on the 1973 science-fiction film of the same name, directed by writer Michael Crichton (Jurassic Park, 1993). The TV series will follow three imaginary worlds – the West World, Medieval World and the Roman World – controlled by human androids. Rebelling against patriarchal society. The robots soon cause carnage and begin attack each tourist that comes their way.
Westworld marks another English-language project for Knudsen who is just fresh off Ron Howard’s The Da Vinci Code (2006) sequel Inferno (2013). The Danish actress is best known for her portrayal of Prime Minister Birgitte Hjort Sørensen in the acclaimed political series, Borgen (2010-13). Knudsen recently finished her stint as Johanne Louise Heiberg in the Nordic historical drama, 1864.
An official release date for Westworld is still to be released.
