In recent years TV shows such as The Killing, Borgen and The Bridge have all successfully managed to break the foreign language barrier and UK audiences have grown to love a bit of dark and gritty Nordic Noir crime drama. If you are currently without your usual fix of Scandi drama then don’t worry, we have something which may be right up your street.
Crimes of Passion is a period piece set in 1950s Sweden, primarily in the picturesque village of Berglagen. While the setting may seem a world away from what we’re used to in present day Nordic favourites such as Wallander, Crimes of Passion still has all the drama. The six part series follows amateur detective Puck Ekstedt, his fiancé Einar Bure and police superintendent Christer Wijk as they attempt to uncover the murderous actions that inhabit their beautiful surroundings. Laced with intrigue, sex, betrayal, secrets and lies, this new series is inspired by the popular novels of Swedish crime author Maria Lang.
Crimes of Passion is due to air on BBC Four on August 30 at 9PM but you can already reserve your copy. The first series will be released on DVD on October 6th 2014 and is now available for pre-order.
