New series ‘Jordskott’ adds a dramatic twist to Nordic Noir

The latest crime series is due to blow a cold, supernatural air from the Scandinavian Peninsula.

The compelling disappearance of police investigator Eva Thörnblad’s daughter Josefine seven years earlier has been haunting her ever since. Eva’s belief that Josefine was abducted instead of drowning during their fateful trip to Silverhojd Lake fuels her with a tragic hope that they will be reunited once again. Now, a young boy has gone missing in the same area which prompts Eva to delve into the secrets hidden in the forest that may confirm her darkest fears.

The alternative style of mystery that blends science fiction and crime, whilst intertwining the atmosphere of Nordic Noir was recently explored in the international series Fortitude from Sky Atlantic. However, Jordskott is set in the wilderness of Sweden and promises to deliver a supernatural element to the bizarre chain of events emanating from Silverhojd.

Jordskott is a 10-part series, produced by Palladium Fiction which will air on ITV Encore and is distributed by ITV Studios Global Entertainment. The series stars Moa Gammel as the icy blonde detective Eva Thörnblad, who recently ignited our screens as the formidable wife of an infamous Swedish gangster in Tommy (2014), alongside Ola Rapace. The actress has also been announced as a special guest at Nordicana 2015, joining Nordic leading ladies Sofie Gråbøl, Sofia Helin and Trine Dyrholm. Fans of the Millennium Trilogy will also recognise esteemed Swedish actor Peter Andersson as Gustaf Borén in Jordskott, known for playing the villainous Nils Bjurman, as well as Stellan Skarsgård’s brother in In Order of Disappearance (2014).

The quality drama and palpable mystery of the show is expressed on the Sky homepage: “described by Broadcast magazine as ‘a mix of True Detective and Top of the Lake, Jordskott is set deep in the ancient forests of Sweden.” ITV Media further supports the acclaimed impact the show has had on Swedish audiences: “Jordskott premiered on 16th February and consolidated to 1.6 million viewers. It was the second most watched programme on any channel that day.”

Jordskott is coming soon to ITV Encore
