We are delighted to announce that Marian Keyes will be presenting a Q&A with the cast members of Danish historical sequel 1864. The Irish novelist will lead the interview – with cast members Marie Tourell Søderberg, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Jakob Oftebro, Jens Sætter-Lassen and Søren Malling – which will take place on Saturday 6th June of the Nordicana 2015 event.
Keyes – an avid fan of the Nordic Noir genre – is one of Ireland’s most successful fiction and non-fiction writers. Her books include Watermelon, This Charming Man and Lucy Sullivan is Getting Married; all of which were bestselling novels. Having sold more than 22million copies worldwide, Keyes knows a thing or two about strong female characters much like Søderberg and Boussnina’s roles in 1864.
1864 recounts the controversial year of the Second Schleswig War when Denmark was graphically defeated by Germany that saw the Scandinavian country suffer a great loss. During this time, we explore the relationship between two brothers – Laust (Jakob Oftebro) and Peter Jensen (Jens Sætter-Lassen) – as they prepare for war whilst sharing the same feelings for local beauty Inge (Mair Tourell Søderberg).
The 1864 Q&A will follow a screening of the penultimate episode at theNordicana event which will also include interviews with Nordic stars Sofie Gråbøl and The Bridge’s Sofia Helin as well as exclusive screenings of upcoming series.
1864 continues on BBC Four this Saturday at 9pm
