The trail continues with a brand-new season of the hit Danish series
It’s been almost a year since the first season of Follow the Money lured us with a political scandal at the heart of the mysterious Energreen corporation. Now, BBC Four has confirmed the second season will be back to kick off Scandi Saturday nights from 4th March. What we can tell you is Follow the Money: The Complete Season Two is released through Arrow Films on DVD from Monday 10th April. You can pre-order your copy from the Amazon store here.
The first episode of season two teased audiences at the Copenhagen TV Festival in August 2016, and revealed what is in store for the fate of the characters. Mads (Thomas Bo Larsen) is investigating a case that centres around a major bank, while Claudia (Natalie Madueño) and Nicky (Esben Smed) are dealing with their lives in the aftermath of the corrupt goings-on, perpetrated by Energreen’s CEO Sander Sodergren (Nikolaj Lie Kaas). Actor David Dencik joins the cast, having recently featured opposite Lie Kaas as dysfunctional family members in Anders Thomas Jensen’s black comedy Men & Chicken, co-starring Mads Mikkelsen and Søren Malling.
Is it any wonder why we have been waiting on tenterhooks for the new season to arrive? The critical acclaim for Follow the Money continues to grow after beating Trapped for Best Non-English Language Drama Series at London’s C21Drama Awards last November. Earlier this month, Follow the Money received six Robert Prisen nominations, going on to win Best (Long) TV Series for DR, director Per Fly and writer Jeppe Gjervig Gram. Not only this, Thomas Bo Larsen claimed the title of Best Actor and the trophy for Best Supporting Actor went to newcomer Esben Smed.
Pick up the trail from where it went cold and start watching Follow the Money season two on Saturday 4th March on BBC Four.
