Filming starts for brand new Nordic drama ‘Springfloden’

A brand new Nordic Noir drama is underway as filming has begun for upcoming series Springfloden (Spring Tide). The drama will feature as a ten-episode series that is set to debut in Sweden later next year with the hopes of arriving to UK television screens at the end of 2016.

Springfloden will follow a police trainee who aims to track down a cold case from the 1990s that saw a pregnant woman brutally murdered and buried on a Swedish beach. The story is based on the novel by Cilla and Rolf Borjlind, the writing duo behind renowned series such as Wallander and Beck. The series is set to star popular Scandinavian names Kjell Bergqvist, Julia Ragnarsson, Helena Bergström and Johan Widerberg.

Springfloden is developed Filmlance Internations, the creators behind The Bridge alongside SVT, Film Väst, Lumiere, ZDF and Nadcon. The Bridge is set to return to our television screens later this year for a third season seeing Sofia Helin reprise her role of unorthodox detective Saga Norén.

A release date for Springfloden is still to be announced.
