Following its recent success with Danish film releases, such as Susanne Bier’s Love is all you Need – which went on to become the #1 box office hit in the UK for a Danish film, Arrow Films is pleased to announce the acquisition of two new Danish films, set for release in 2016. The new titles: political thriller The Idealist and dark comedy Men & Chicken will join a roster of other strong feature-length Danish films previously released through Arrow, such as The Hunt and A Hijacking.
The new 2016 films will also benefit by being promoted to Arrow’s ever-successful Nordic Noir & Beyond imprint fan-base, which has seen considerable growth and success this past year, following the release of such enviable TV shows as The Legacy and The Bridge III.
Arrow Films will be releasing further Danish drama in 2016 in the form of new TV drama series Follow the Money – from the makers of The Killing, Borgen & The Legacy.

An 18 year conspiracy is unearthed that has been festering below the surface of the polar ice. On 21stJanuary in 1968 an American B-52 fitted with four nuclear bombs crashed in nearby to the US military Air Base in Thule, Greenland, under the control of Denmark. The accident is quickly cleaned up and declared safe. However, a rising number of cases in 1986 of the workers involved contracting fatal diseases from plutonium poisoning, prompts radio journalist Poul Brink (Peter Plaugborg) to investigate shed light on the US Government’s plot to conceal a nuclear catastrophe.
The Idealist is an exhilarating suspense thriller which premiered at the Day for Night’s Nordic Film Festival 2015 in London. Based on true events, the film adds to the impressive collection of high production value, historical period pieces of Scandinavian cinema, including 1864 (2014) and April 9th (2015).
Men & Chicken

Meet the Elias (Mikkelsen) and Gabriel (Dencik) – two somewhat quirky brothers who discover that their roots in the wake of the death of the man they believed to be their father. Driven by a curious quest to understand their idiosyncratic identities, the siblings visit their mysterious biological family living in an old, dilapidated sanatorium on the island Ork. Here, Elias and Gabriel come face-to-face with a misfit clan of residents living in their own world, cut off from civilisation on the mainland and learn a shocking truth about their lineage.
This off-beat Danish comedy recently featured as part of the programme of Nordic films at the BFI London Film Festival 2015 and bolsters the Nordic Noir sense of humour shown in Dag (2010- ), Klown (2010) and In Order of Disappearance (2014). From accomplished writer Anders Thomas Jensen (After the Wedding, 2006 and The Salvation, 2014), Men & Chicken reunites the filmmaker with his regular pool of actors: Mads Mikkelsen, Nikolaj Lie Kaas and Nicolas Bro (Adam’s Apples, 2005 and The Green Butchers, 2003).
