One of the most anticipated new series to air on British television is Danish historical mini-series 1864. To celebrate its UK release, two of its leading stars will join in the festivities at this year’s Nordicana event.
The festival welcomes Marie Tourell Søderberg and Jens Sætter-Lassen. The actors will be attending the star-studded event alongside renowned Scandi stars like The Bridge’s Sofia Helin, The Killing’s Sofie Gråbøl and cast members of The Legacy; Jesper Christensen, Marie Bach Hansen and Trine Dyrholm. The 1864 actors will also join Swedish actress Moa Gammel who will be discussing her role in the upcoming supernatural series Jordskott.
1864 recounts the controversial year of the Second Schleswig War between Denmark and Germany, which saw the Danes forlornly outnumbered. As war is declared, two brothers ignite to embark on the goriest combat in Danish history.
The series is the latest Nordic programme to appear on BBC Four, following The Killing, The Bridge and Hostages, and remains the most expensive show to be formed by Danish production company DR; including 2,000 extras and 323 sets in 36 locations.
It was also announced earlier this week that actors Jakob Oftebro and Sarah Sofie Boussnina will be joining their 1864 co-stars at the Nordicana event – read more here.
Nordicana: Nordic Noir & Beyond Live 2015 takes places 6th-7th June at The Troxy in London’s East End – purchase tickets here.
